Smuggler's Cove - Exotic Cocktails, Rum, and the Cult of Tiki
At 350 pages, Smuggler’s Cove is the exhaustive cocktail book for all things tiki. Over 100 tiki cocktails including classics and new renditions from the Smuggler’s Cove bar are featured alongside gorgeous photography. Authors Martin and Rebecca Cate trace the cult of tiki from its origin to its present-day revival, and along the way their deep dive into rum and the techniques behind making tiki cocktails educate and inspire!“If you can’t get to paradise, I’ll bring it to you.” – Don the Beachcomber
Great book with lovely photos, tons of information, including history and a rum guide. Essential purchase if you’re interested in making tiki drinks.
I'm still working my way through this, but so far Smuggler's Cove has been a fantastic walk through the history to Tiki culture and Polynesian pop. The drinks I've made from the book's recipes have been excellent too! I absolutely recommend this book to anyone with a passing interest in the history of cocktails, alcohol, or mixology.
If you see another review from me below, well, I mixed up what I was reviewing where - but what I'll stand by what I say there. Liber & Co's syrups are great in the drinks this book details!
The art work and photos are excellent and have led me to several drinks I might have never considered. I especially like the Saturn which uses gin as an alternative to rum (and takes advantage of Liber's orgeat and passion fruit syrups as well).
Excellent book, that explains the history of Tiki, and how to make some amazing drinks. Loving it!!
Fantastic book, a must have for any one who loves tiki drinks. A great history and story of tiki culture and rum with great drink recipes interspersed throughout.
